The Power of Brand Names: Is It Really The Product We Love?

It’s funny how branding affects more than just our wallets, it might even shape how we
experience a product.
Take lipsticks, for example. If someone hands you two shades with no logos, and you love one…
then find out it’s from a brand you usually avoid, would your feelings change?
That’s where brand-based comparative methods come in. These experiments test how people
respond to a product with and without seeing the brand name. Sometimes, consumers prefer
one version in a “blind test,” but change their minds once they know who made it.
Interesting, right?
In beauty, we might assume that certain brands mean higher quality, but maybe we’re influenced
more by reputation than ingredients.
It doesn’t mean those brands aren’t delivering, but it does raise a good question: how much of
our product love is based on what we see, not just what we feel?
Next time you’re swiping on a new shade, ask yourself: would I still love this if I didn’t know who made it?
