I think I can speak for everyone when I say NOBODY wants to answer a never-ending survey. You want to get some data and gain insights not give your respondents a midterm exam. A good survey is short, simple, and to the point. Every question should serve a clear purpose.

Lengthy surveys can lead to:

  • Loss of interest - causing people to stop answering thoughtfully

  • Drop outs - respondents quit the survey before finishing.

  • Low quality data - people start to click random answers just to get through it

All of these things can substantially affect your data. It's important to focus on the most essential questions, instead of cramming in every one that comes to mind. A shorter and clearer survey will give you better data and happier responders. Always remember less is more!
